Summary:
The Angels--Natalie, Dylan, and Alex
go undercover to recover two missing silver bands which contain valuable encrypted information that
could reveal the new identities of
every person in the Federal Witness Protection Program. As witnesses start
turning up dead, only the Angels, using their expertise as masters of disguise,
espionage and martial arts can stop the perpetrator, a mysterious fallen Angel (Demi
Moore).
Aided by their trusty colleague, Jimmy Bosley (Bernie Mac), the Angels' adventure begins at a
remote Mongolian outpost and ends only after Dylan is forced to face a dark
secret from her past--a secret that puts the lives of her two best friends in
danger.
Review:
After the original Charlie's Angels (2000) went on to gross over 200 million
dollars in box offices worldwide, the Angels return in a sequel featuring
more martial arts, more disguises, and more of our favorite crime-fighting
heroines.
For the most part the Angels deliver the same giddy, glorious goofiness
as the first movie, but the sequel doesn't overcome on-set feuds, budget
overruns, and the lack of a finished script. Way too often in this movie you
find the Angels trying to solve fundamental flaws with a couple of smiles
and fancy CGI. Most box office patrons will be mortified by the lack of
explanation at key points in this movie.
Although most critics and I are touting this movie as a box office flop
it does find some redeeming points. Demi Moore's portrayal of the evil Angel
Madison Lee overshadows the Angels performances with a no nonsense approach.
Also, the outtakes at the end of the film are funnier than the movie itself.
Cutesie cameos by Jackyln Smith, Pink, the Olsen twins, and Bruce Willis add
a little flavor to this bland piece of meat.
If your looking for a film no-brain-cells-necessary film with light humor
and an insane amount of unnecessary CGI, then this tremendously cute sequel
with incredible starpower might be what your looking for.
